Bone Needle Brooch from Trondheim

Bone Needle Brooch from Trondheim

16,00 â‚¬

Brooch or pin based on the find from Trondheim, dated from the 11th century.
It’s made of bone and fine decorated and engraved. It presents interlaced motifs in Urnes style.
The bone was a great alternative to the brooches made of bronze or silver, and it is an ideal complement for those reenactors who want to portray a low social status character.
Although in reenactment it’s commonly used as a hairpin, we think it was historically used as a brooch, and we show a photo of how it could be used, attaching a leather strap as a subjection system.
Measures: 16 x 3 cm.

Note: The leather strap and the woolen shown on the image are not included. They are just to exemplify the functionality of the product.
