Pintella or Overdress “Luiza”

Pintella or Overdress “Luiza”

The pintella was an outer, warm garment that was generally worn over a dress or tunic. The length of her sleeves and skirt allowed the dress underneath to be seen, this characteristic was considered a sign of ostentation, which is why this garment is attributed to women with a high social position.
The collar could be round or “key”, like the one presented in this reproduction, and it was very common to decorate the collar, cuffs and bottom of the skirt with stripes of fabric of a different color.

There are multiple depictions that show 11th century Hispanic women wearing this garment, although garments very similar to this were used in Eastern Europe.

The Luiza Over Dress incorporates delicate accents of light blue along the lower hem, collar, and sleeves for a truly eye-catching appearance. These subtle touches infuse the dress with a gentle allure.

The dress features a refined narrow neckline that accentuates the collarbone. Its short sleeves contribute to the dress’s versatility, enabling unhindered hand and arm mobility – ideal for both work and outdoor activities. Gussets thoughtfully positioned under the arms and along the side seams not only enhance mobility but also provide a remarkable level of comfort.
