Detailed instructions are included with the shipment.Viking tents have many advantages over other medieval tents: They are robust, have a stable construction, which also guarantees storage on firm floors, since pegs are not absolutely necessary and you can let your creativity run free when designing your frame.

The well-known models are based on the finds in Oseberg and Gokstad, which, however, were not completely preserved and are therefore partially reconstructed based on suppositions.

Nothing precise can be said about the actual use of these tents. It is not entirely clear whether they were really used outdoors or only for Althing. Another theory suggests that they were market tents.

Since the size of the original finds would be a logistical challenge for most of us, we made them a bit smaller and therefore more manageable.

Scope of delivery:
The Viking tent offered here only consists of the tent skin including the fastening and locking loops.
Colors and material:
– natural color (350 gsm)
Dimensions are all approximate and may vary from the product supplied. The tents are made by hand, which makes them appear as authentic as possible, but also entails one or two small mistakes. Cotton is a natural substance that behaves differently under different external conditions, i.e. it can contract or stretch very much. Please do not try to stretch the tent skin with great effort. This increases the risk of it tearing or seams opening.

The following tips are helpful so that you can enjoy your Viking tent for a long time:
Do not tension the ropes too much, because natural materials such as wood and cotton change when they are humid and need space to expand or contract. This prevents you from e.g. the openings for the bars in the roof widen and later water has the opportunity to penetrate. At night, we recommend loosening the ropes a little, as the air humidity rises sharply and there is a possibility that too much pressure will be put on your tent. In the event of rain or high humidity, please also loosen the ropes a little.
After use, be sure to dry your tent if it has become damp, otherwise there is a risk of mold.
Never use chemical or other cleaning agents to clean your tent. It is best to remove dried dirt with a brush.
For long-term storage, please separate all objects (pegs, ropes, etc.) from the tarpaulin and ideally pack everything separately. Make sure that all parts are dry and also stored dry.
