Viking Winged Spearhead for Combat
Viking Winged Spearhead for Combat
70,00 €
Viking spear with wings, inspired on many finds of the Viking Era.
This spear is a Type IX-1B according to the Bergljot Solberg’s typology, and it’s dated on the 10-11th century.
The wings were a very common complement on spears. Many examples present bases and wings with a luxurious decoration on it, but the purpose is a purely practicalmatter: to avoid that the spear goes all the way through the pray.
In battle, the purpose was the same, and the wings prevent the warrior to get disarmed after an attack.
Made of high carbon steel using a hand-forged/welding mixed technique. With “brut de forge” finishing, rounded edges and blunt tip.
