Early Medieval Bone Needle Brooch Set – 4 Pieces

Availability: In stock

The brooches included on this set are based on several early medieval (viking & anglosaxon) bone pins for fastening clothes.
The bone was a great alternative to the brooches made of bronze or silver, and it is an ideal complement for those reenactors who want to portray a low social status character.
Although in historical reenactment it is usually used as a hairpin, we believe that historically it was used as a brooch, with a braided cord for fastening (as shown in one of the finds attached in the gallery).
Some of these also could be used as a tool, needle for weaving or sewing or an awl for sewing or leatherworking.
Measures: Approx. 14 – 15 cm long.
