A two-piece linen cap or coif. This garment was very common during the High and Late Middle Ages, becoming a fundamental part of men’s clothing during the 13th and 14th centuries.

Worn by both the common people and nobility, this type of hat, generally made of fine, undyed fabric, was tied under the chin with a cord and served to protect the hair from the sun but from parasites too.
