Sword chape based on an archaeological find from Varbola, Finland, and dated from the 10-11th century.
Chapes with this eastern type were used particularly in the East Baltic region and in Russia.
This piece was used to protect and decorate the end of a sword scabbard. It presents a geometrical motifs as decoration.
Hand-made with bronze.
External dimensions: 8.5 x 5.5 cm.
Internal dimensions: 4.8 x 2.2 cm.
