Diamond-Shaped Brooch from Uppåkra
Diamond-Shaped Brooch from Uppåkra
11.00 € – 13.20 €
This rhomboid / diamond shaped brooch is a replica of the archaelogical find from Uppåkra, Skåne, southern Sweden. Dated from the 10th century.
This finely crafted brooch is made in Borre style and presents one animal head on each corner, zoomorphical motifs very common on this artistic style.
Possibly these animal heads symbolized the four wind directions , which in the Germanic Edda are called Nordri, Sudri, Austri and Westri and were regarded as separate entities.
Handmade with bronze.
Measures: 2.8 cm x 2.8 cm.
