Early Medieval Boots (Turnshoe)
Early Medieval Boots (Turnshoe)
99.90 €
A turn-sewn buskin in a pattern after findings from Jorvik (York), England, although there are other similar exemplars from Haithabu, Germany.
Completely turn-sewn by hand! This shoe shows many details of a historically correct buskin from the era between 1000-1250 AD. These viking era boots present strap closures and a striking seam on the vamp.
Please note:
- The robustness of shoes according to historical patterns may not meet the modern requirements!
- They are quite sensitive to asphalt, concrete stones and gravel. These floor coverings did not exist in the Middle Ages! we therefore recommend wearing pattens (medieval wooden overshoes), insoles or to retrofit them with rubbersoles at the shoemaker of your choice.
Details:
– Material: cow hide
– Upper leather: approx. 2,5 mm
– Sole leather: approx. 7 mm
– Sizes: 36 – 47
European size. If your feet are wide or you want to wear heavy woolen socks or shoe insoles, we always recommend the purchase of a bigger size.
*Dear customer: The production of these shoes is completely by-hand. Although we have many sizes on our warehouse, it’s possible that at the moment of placing your order the chosen size is not on stock. Please, send a message and we will inform you about the estimated production time.
