Frankish Cloissoné Eagle-shaped Brooch

Replica of bird-shaped brooch, belonging to the frankish culture from the Merovingian period. Dated from the 6th century.
During the Early Middle Ages, at the 5th and 6th centuries, these type of brooches were worn commonly in pairs by women as an important part of their clothing.
The original brooch is exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum from New York.
Handmade with bronze, with imitation of cloissoné with enamel.

 

Measures: 3.5 x 1.6 cm.
