Replica of a discoidal or swastika-shaped brooch, replica of an archaeological find from Aschheim in Southern Germany. Dated from the 7th century.

The original was a 4.6 cm diameter piece made of gold-plated silver. Its decoration was composed by four whirling heads of birds of prey looking to the left with eyes made of garnet inlays, flanked by four necks decorated with plaited bands. In the centre of the original disc brooch there was a four-pass area with notched decorations and niello inlays.

During the Early Middle Ages, from 5th to 7th centuries, these type of brooches were worn commonly by wealthy women as an important part of their clothing.

Handmade with bronze and resin enamel as garnets simulation.

Measures: 4.6 cm.
