Lunula Amulet with Garnets

Lunula Amulet with Garnets

25.00 â‚¬

This peculiar amulet was inspired by a pendant found at Stare Mesto, Praha, Czech Republic. Dated from the 9th century.
The original was made of bronze with the granulation/filigree technique, so common in Slavic regions. Our replica, although it’s casted in bronze, shows with accuracy all details of this antique technique.

In this version, garnets (almandina) have been included to give it a touch, if possible, even more exquisite.

Lunula-shaped amulets were common as jewellery among the Slavs, Rus and Eastern Vikings during the Viking Age. The lunula amulet had a significance mainly as a magical protection for girls and women. The Slavic Lunula amulets in the shape of the half moon are symbols for the female powers and illustrate the power of the moon. The Lunula pendant of this kind was especially meant to give protection to the unborn life and also to protect the mother from harm.

Hand made of bronze.
