Sword chape based on an archaeological find from Sweden, and dated from the 10-11th century.
This piece was used to protect and decorate the end of a sword scabbard. It presents a zoomorphic motif that looks like a bird, it also has a geometric decoration composed by concetrical circles and dots.
It was possibly a very common design, as many similar pieces has been found at Poland, Lithuania and Russia.
Hand-made with brass or bronze.
External dimensions: 6.6 x 4 x 1.4 cm.
Internal dimensions: 6.5 x 3.6 x 1.1 cm.
